请问如果推荐人和自己的老板一起发过一篇paper，但是paper里没有我的名字。而且
我自己的paper里从来没有推荐人的名字。这样的情况下，推荐人可以认为是独立的吗？
如果不是，因为推荐人和我老板发的那篇文章引用了我的文章，我想把它从google
scholar 和 ISI的引用中删除。如果操作？我找了半天看不到有什么选项。

Typically no, even the students, who were in your lab or school but you had
never met, do not count as independent.
Well, it does not matter much a particular referee is independent or not, if
he can write about specifics on how good your methods are, etc, that letter
is very valuable.

Is it that bad? Even previous students graduated from this school are not co
unted towards independent?
How about postdoc training? Everyone comes out of the institution I did post
doc is not counted towards independent referee? Thanks a lot!

The problem is that the paper he authored with my boss is in my google
scholar and ISI citation lists. 我想把它从google scholar 和 ISI的引用中删除

There's no such clear-cut line, it's all in the IO's hand. What I said
before was based on limited cases seen here. But I guess that some lenient
IOs may not pay such close attention.
The point is that as long as you have some independent (totally unknown,
such as the people who cited your paper) ones, you can have non-independent
ones, too.
Also, the IOs may not have time to check everything. If you meet someone in
a conference but you have never co-authored with them, you can just say that
they know your work through your publications, but not to mention that you
have met them before. Try to say what's useful for you, but not to make up
things.

Then don't do it. Why do you have to make him independent? How many
independent ones do you have now? 3 is enough.
