Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
Full Time
Seattle, Washington
Our Company develops advanced, intuitive, and high-quality products that
drive efficiency, productivity, and
manage logistics at marine and break-bulk terminals around the globe. We’
re seeking a motivated Software Engineer in
Test (SDET), with strong object-oriented programming skills, good
understanding of automation frameworks, object
mocking frameworks, scripting knowledge, and a passion for constant
improvement in software quality and process
efficiency.
You will join a cohesive team of software engineers, testers, and business
system analysts who are passionate not only
about technology, but also about the utilization of modern technology to
solve real-world problems. You will be working
with highly distributed systems and integration between them, mobile
products, optimization algorithms, and logistics in a
space where every product improvement matters and every line of code counts.
This position is technical – performing SDET work and STE work according to
guidelines and orchestration by a team lead.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to, automated and manual
regression and integration test initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
Code - Implement high-quality, fault-tolerant, clean, reusable, and
maintainable automation tools and test
frameworks.
Triage - Be highly effective at quickly reproducing issues,
analyzing logs, data, and system results to provide
comprehensive and robust information to developers so they can quickly
resolve the problems.
Develop and Organize Tests - Create structured, clean, and cohesive
test cases for all new features and/or
functional changes in the software, organized into repeatable test suites.
Document - Ensure testing activities always lead towards the growth
of company’s collective knowledge through
strong documentation.
Develop Expertise - Build a deep understanding of company’s
products, customers, product configurations, and
data. Thoroughly understand the state changes company’s products undergo
as end users exercise the system.
Understand our products’ integration with external systems and know when,
why and how messaging occurs.
Debug – Resolve difficult issues spanning across large and
distributed systems.
Support - Be available to help with critical customer issues that
are reported to company’s application support
staff. This includes reproducing and documenting production issues,
analyzing logs, or clarifying intended
functionality.
Empathize - Develop a strong empathy for our customers and their
needs.
Report- Track status on testing activities (pass/fail) accurately
and in a timely fashion. Provide intuitive and
organized reports to the development owner(s), product owner(s), managers,
and peers as necessary.
Learn - Display a passion for constant learning of new product
features, technologies, and customer operational
practices. Seek out information from peers about changes and document
findings.
Collaborate – Work extensively with cross-functional development
teams, including analysts, engineers, and QA.
Required Skills and Experience:
B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
On the job experience must include automated testing and
maintenance on complex source systems, as well as
knowledge of build process.
Strong coding skills in Java and SQL. Coding skills in JavaScript
is a huge plus.
Experience in JUnit and a mocking framework such as Mockito.
Good understanding of various types of automation testing such as
component, integration and regression testing.
Strong attention to details.
Must be able to work in an agile, dynamic, varied, and fast paced
environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
