听说收到绿卡后,要换SSN卡. 打了电话询问了 Local Social Security office. 答复
是要. 说是因为身份改变了.
论坛没看多少人提换SSN卡. 想问问, 拿绿卡后, 大家都马上换SSN卡了吗?
因去过一趟 Local Social Security office, 人太多. 要等很长时间. 想等有空再换.

DoS and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will share with us the
information needed to issue you an SSN card. Therefore, you do not need to
fill out a special application or go to a Social Security office to get an
SSN.
We will assign you an SSN and issue you a Social Security card after you
arrive in the United States. If you already have an SSN, we will issue you a
replacement SSN card. We will mail your SSN card to the U.S. mailing
address where the Department of Homeland Security will send your Permanent
Resident Card. You should receive your Social Security card within 3 weeks
after you arrive.

ssn号码会变吗？

号码还是原来的号码. 只是新的SSN卡上没有 Work Restriction.

SSN = Social Security Number，是一个号码。这个号码是终生跟着你的，不会变的。
你每次有身份变化（拿到绿卡、入籍、等）都需要通知social security部门更新你的
信息。
这时候有可能会给你新的卡（如果上面的信息变了），有可能不会（如果上面的信息没
有变；譬如如果绿卡的时候已经没有with DHS authorization的文字，入籍后不用变）
。但是不拿新的卡不等于不需要去social security更新你的信息。

不需要换卡。绿了几年了，没有换卡，也没有任何问题。

要换的要remove restrictions. 不过我一个同事没去换，SSA直接寄给他们了一张新
的SSN card，同样的号，无restrictions。难道这玩意也要看人品？
