Calling the promotion "Strike It Rich," Discovery Channel is going to give a
way free Shell gasoline on Friday to mark the second season premiere of its

At pre-determined Shell stations drivers can receive $20 worth of gasoline p
umped courtesy of an on-site “gold miner.” These secret stations will be a
nnounced on Oct. 28 on the station's website. Drivers can go online, view th
e address of the participating Shell station and visit the station between 6
:30 and 9:30 am to receive free gasoline. While waiting for their tanks to f
ill they will be shown clips from the Gold Rush Series on pump mounted telev
ision screens.
The series is about a group of down-on-their-luck men who, in the face of an
economic meltdown, risk everything to strike it rich mining for gold in Ala
ska.
“We all know that the economy is tough,” said David Shackley, chief market
ing officer of Discovery Channel. “The men featured in 'Gold Rush' are hard
-working Americans, like our viewers, who are taking risks and trying to mak
e a decent living. This is our way of giving back to the community with a li
