I wish I could see this earlier.
He uses 10 years' trailing earning to calculate P/E. This is important for
understanding and comparing the market valuation from a historic point of
view.

现在的earning还有多少用吗？偶怎么经常看到某某公司ER出来，亏损若干billion,
然后股票顿时暴涨30%...
欧就曾经好几个月持有一个earning是负的股票，然后涨了大概25%左右卖了，哈哈。

What I mean is right now investors care more about how the management
views the future, rather than the ER -- because too many businesses
have negative ER, but you can't make its stock negative yah.

Wall Street is all about analysts' expectations. Wall Street has all kinds
of formulae. Basically, you give them an earning number with 1 to 2
effective digits, they can generate the quarterly numbers for the next
couple of years with 5 effective digits. And these numbers are more detailed
than those from a regular 10K. I finally understand why there is a price
tag on those useless analyst report. Because when you read them, you can't
stop laughing all day long. I should pay them for making me a

usually, FA traders use 12 months trailing PE, instead of unstable quarterly
PE. SP500's 12 months trailing PE is 10.xx from bloomberg today. u can also
use estimated future PE, which is tricky though.

Actually, up to today, GS and GE deals are still good. If I were him, and I
