The catalyst, as I understood, is its CEO said its operating results is good
in Jan/Feb.

"In a letter sent to employees Monday, Citi Chief Executive Vikram Pandit
said the bank had an operating profit of $8.3 billion before taxes and
special items through February -- its best performance since the third
quarter of 2007."
I can believe it, but it still had tons of bad assets sits on its balance
sheet and some are not even on balance sheet, right? Ca

The AIG CEO will say, "Our insurance business is making a lot of money."
GM CEO will say, "Our car repair department is making billions."

stock market is all about future. As long as Citi can consistantly make
money in this tough environment - and it won't bankrupt due to government
protection, some investors may view it a life time opportunity to own C.
With that said, I believe any bear market rally is shortable. I wouldn't buy
anything until real estate market clearly bottoms - like the topping
process, the bottoming process will take couple of years at least.
