A simple question: what's the difference between J2EE and J2SE?

Dont be so serious about how long it will last. Looked over past ten years,
a lot of hot stuffs became legacy, even forgot: COM, DCOM, CORBA ...
I believed J2EE is same fate. They has common thing: nothing simple and
nothing new. Everybody think they are born so complicated and promised to
solve ANY problem. But the fate is same, they are gone in dust.
If you look for something last for a little bit long time, try to find
something simple and useful to solve one problem. Those stuffs will have

As a developer, we should not care too much about the future of J2EE. J2EE is
on top of Java. I do think Java will be around for a long time. .NET will
always has it's OS support problem.
Also, about J2EE. It is not just about EJB (transaction, security support,
etc.) and distributed computing. EJB is just one piece and a bad one. J2EE is
way more than COM, DCOM and CORBA.

Also, about J2EE. It is not just about EJB (transaction, security support,

Don't agree.
1. OLE/OLE2 might be legacy at this time. COM, DCOM and CORBA
still have a large developer/user base.
2. CORBA and J2EE might be complex, COM and DCOM are pretty simple
cosidering their functionalities.

problem with COM and DCOM is they only deal with M$ platform while
J2EE is cross-platform application and CORBA has to cross-language/platform.

There are full of such stuffs around the world:
XML is simple, clear, useful by itself, we can use it in software build system
such as ant, also can be used to replace old style RPC: XML-RPC; we can use
DocBook to provide a better publishing env. You dont need to be a XML guru to
use XML. Look at the J2EE, it want to catch everything in one shot, which is
impossible from software engineering history.
MVC (Model/View/Controller) is really good for interactive software
development, the idea apply
