本人即将五月或六月master毕业。由于特殊原因还没来得及找工作。现在有了一个本校
的PhD offer，要求4.30前给答复。如果我答应了PhD Offer之后，在PhD开学前USCIS还允许我以master身份申请OPT找工作吗？如果USCIS允许，一般情况下学校是否答应？是否要取消PhD Offer?
我咨询过两次本校的国际学生办公室，给出的说法比较模糊。

I asked 国际学生办公室, it is no. I don't know your school 国际学生办公室.
every school has different policy.

i think your PhD offer is good.
If I were you, I would go for PhD, no job searching at this moment.

My offer is PhD in JHU applied mathematics and statistics. Deep in my heart,
I would like to go for a PhD in statistics or stochastic process.
Eventually I would like to go to industry such as Financial, biostat or
other statistics, data mining related area.
But I am 30 now. I am not sure if my age will be a disadvantage when I
complete my PhD.

我的理解是opt在每个level只能用一次，就是master一次，phd一次

是的。也许我原来没说清楚，我考虑的是如果我答应了PhD Offer之后，USCIS和学校还
允许我在PhD开学前以master身份申请OPT找工作吗？如果允许，是否要取消PhD Offer?

新学校没给你开I20之前应该都可以吧。一旦开出I20，OPt就自动没了。

Congs! It's a great program. Age does not matter.
btw: There are a lot of pharmaceutical/bio firms in Maryland. You might also go job hunting when you're
pursuing your PhD degree. It would be easier for you to apply for a position or internship in biostat in
MD/NJ/NY.
