My OPT will expire on June 1, 2011. I am a stem major and want to extend my
OPT.I need my employer's e-verify number and put it on the I-756 form.
My question is: my current employer recently started to register for E-
verify and the HR department told me today that it's still on the process
and they don't get the E-verify's number yet. It seems that they don't know
when they will get the number.
My questions are:
1) If the HR still doesn't get the e-verify number by June 1 when my opt
will expire, can I still apply for the opt extension after June 1?
2) Anyone knows the process of e-verify registration process? Usually it
takes how long to get the number released? I call the e-verify department
and people there say it depends on different cases and there is no specific
time slot for application.
3)I heard about the 60 days Grace Period. I got my opt/ead card right after
I graduated so I didn't use any 60-day-Grace-period yet. Do I still have
this 60 days to adjust my visa status if I still cannot get the e-verify
number after my opt expires?
