其他设计转UX/UI design的前几天发贴说onsite面试，现在对方给了如下的回复：
“We reviewed your design exercise today and really the team was very
appreciative of your efforts.
As you are switching fields and don't have much UX work to show in your
portfolio, we may run into issues with getting your offer approved by the
hiring committee.
The team would like to get you started as a contractor and in 6 months, once
you have enough work to show in your portfolio, we can move forward with
getting your converted to a full time employee.
Let me know your thoughts.”
我觉得H1b应该是不可以做contractor的吧？我真的是既需要转行，哪怕先part-time也
好，请教各位有经验的帮我看看这封信发给我，我下一步如何去negotiate？该怎样争
取到一个可以转签证的position？
公司是硅谷某知名IT企业，我觉得如果将来能full-time转过去还是很不错的，所以不
想失去这样的机会，请各位出个主意吧～

可以吧，大公司一般心里都有数，不能转H1b他们也没法雇佣你啊。
如果公司好的话也值得一试，就当给自己6个月的时间去骑驴找马了。

不是说没有身份不可以做合同工么？

Suppose you are on OPT visa now, you can work as a contractor. Next year,
if you still work as contractor, you will need an employer to apply h1b for
you, then you can work as a contractor for other companies. If interested,

不是OPT，我是转行的，H1b已经用了一年多了

If your current h1b is capped, then you need to find an employer to
transfer your h1b and your employer signs contract with that company. If
transfer is approved, you can work as a contractor for that company.

capped是的，我也听说过可以这样通过一个中间公司进行transfer然后做contract
work，只不过不清楚这个是需要我自己找还是我要去工作的公司自己有合作的？很
confused，对方是挺大的公司

有些大公司自己提供contract，不是通过第三方。最好先问清楚。

这个你需要去问那个大公司。一般正规的大公司可能有指定的
staffing company. 如果没有指定的，你再说可不可以跟你找的staffing company
签。

这家公司是够大的，但是如果他们自己提供contract，那我岂不是成了independent
contractor？不是规定H1b不可以是independent contractor么？

嗯，刚才发信问了，按道理我面试的时候跟他们说了我是from china的，他们应知道我
年纪轻轻还没绿卡吧，既然他们提出了contractor，或许他们有解决办法。。。如果真
的能由他们自己的staffing company帮转，我倒是愿意做这半年contractor再说，反正
是铁了心要转行的
