Anyone specialies in investing in biotech? It seems that Craig Venter
created history last month: "the first self-replicating species we've had on
the planet whose parent is a computer." For those who worried about the
economy potential of the human being, I would rather worry about it being
replaced by some more advanced organisms created entirely by the computers:

Hehe, but it is not entirely scifi, the economics are in there to be able to
produce these cheaply in the future.

I think the commercial/civil application of this DNA technology is far far
away down the road, due to funding and ethic issue. But the Lab/military
application should have already begun.
One very attractive application will be bio-computer, use some kind of nerve
system to store/process information with complicated conditions. I read a
paper quite sometime ago, which calculated the potential of current computer
chip construction based on physical limitation of materials, and predicted
that next
