First and foremost, I am not a lawyer. Secondly, it will depend on fact, which
you may not be able to disclose except in confidence of attorney-client
privilege.
It happened to me once, about $1000 more, when I was leaving at the beginning
of the month. I did not know what to make of it. Then 2 or 3 months later, a
department of the employer which was in charge of fund (treasury or something)
sent me a letter to request return of $500, which I did.
