For the 3 years I was at UVA, I did not encounter any JD student with a
bachelor's from China, except for an LLM who transfered to JD.

我上次估计的好像也是这个数字。差不多1年30个。
很奇怪的是，这两年申请的人增加了，录取的人数却没什么变化，而且因为LLM转JD更
困难了，总人数好像还有点下降了。

UVA is an excellent school, I think it's at least as good as Michigan and
UPenn, if not better.
But UVA hasn't been very friendly to Chinese applicants, the GPA requirement
is very restrictive, 30% reserved for in-state, very low minority student
percentage compare to other top schools, still use pre-screen for some
firms, etc.

Yes, it includes everyone who finished UG in China.
If I have to guess, at least 80% has spent some time studying in US. Most of them hold advanced degree here.
It used to have more because some schools allowed LLM transfer to JD without
taking LSAT, but now you have to take LSAT and did exceptionally well in
LLM to have a chance to transfer.

If I have to guess, at least 80% has spent some time studying in US. Most of them hold advanced degree here.
It used to have more because some schools allowed LLM transfer to JD without
taking LSAT, but now you have to take LSAT and did exceptionally well in
LLM to have a chance to transfer.

去年感觉多点 啊，起码umich招到了6个中国人，录取的应该更多吧

录取的人应该比招的人少吧？ 很多人都拿了好多录取的
这边中国人如果只限在大陆读过本科的人的话，每年是挺少的。
这两年LSAT分数贬值太快了。。我记得5年前每年考180的美国人也不过10个左右，今年
起码40个了。

不过如果一个学校来说应该录取的比最后入学的人多啊
真的只有10个吗？4次加起来10个？我记得有个人专门考lsat, 每次都是满分...他还算
在这10个里面？
而且如果百分比不变，应该是考的人多了吧？scale越来越紧了...

UVA is surprisingly friendly towards Asians -- at least much more so than NU
, based on what my friends at NU told me.
I agree with nemo that the low Asian enrollment at UVA is largely due to
Asians' own perception of the South rather than any discriminatory practice
by the adcom. It has a beautiful campus in a charming small southern town,
great faculty, and a fun, close-knit student body. IMO there is something
very valuable to one's career that can be only learned at UVA. Perhaps that
is why
