POSITION NAME: Development Manager
DEPARTMENT: Collections Core Technology
LOCATION: Beijing
JOB DESCRIPTION – DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will hold overall responsibility for development and delivery
of Elektron CVA/CVG systems/projects and provide the leadership for the
various technical development and support functions and initiatives in real-
time collections.
Key responsibilities:
To act as the focal point for Elektron CVA/CVG development
activities.
To be accountable for the delivery of CVA/CVG development
projects to agreed specification to quality and timelines.
To lead and effectively manage the teams both on technical and
people.
To complete the objectives of each assignment within the agreed
timeframe.
To be able to abstract complicated business functional
requirements and translate into the solution accordingly.
To own and review the software design, development and testing
for infrastructure development projects.
To ensure the software development conforms to the process in
the team.
To work collaboratively with various local and global teams
within the company.
To coach, manage and develop staff.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS – REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Technical and/or functional skills
Strong project management background and demonstrable experience
as a technical team leader and/or development manager is a must.
Computing related experience: C/C++, OOAD and design patterns,
STL, Windows OS, SQL/Oracle, XML.
Networking related experience: TCP/IP protocols/socket
programming, networking knowledge.
Good financial market knowledge and working experience is
essential.
Demonstrate evidence in good software design and engineering
practices
Ability to quickly grasp market requirements and convert into
technical solution.
Experience in dealing with production issues and provide follow-
up recommendations.
Experience working within Thomson Reuters development teams with
exposure to various architecture and technology groups.
Past experience working with Thomson Reuters systems, related to
exchange data and historic data with exposure to IDN, BDN, RDF-D would be
advantageous.
Other skills and abilities
Proficiency in English both verbally and in writing is a must.
Quick learner and ability to quickly grasp the large scale
mission critical systems.
Technically-inclined, analytical, meticulous and attentive to
details.
Must be experienced and well-versed in resource management and
allocations, project planning and tracking, team management and handling
staff issues.
A proactive team player with the ability to work in dynamic
environments.
Ability to work under tight deadlines with high stress tolerance.
Willing to work late for teleconference with overseas developers
occasionally.
Have good interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with
people at all levels and comfortable in cross-cultural environment.
