My 2 cents are: keep it simple, stick with the points you want to make, and
do not do jargons (remember always: rule-supporting facts-conclusion). you
will be just fine.

请问您的location?我知道，目前big 4 外包很多这类工作给印度的同事。
回楼主：当然是大firm了，小firm根本没有机会去做上市公司的帐，SEC对上市公司的
要求和一般private company大不相同，小公司既没有404 testing， 也没有
international coordination, 更没有reporting这项。

control怎么外包啊.
Cash是可以。。但是简单到做1个来2小时的活 都外包 你跟client拿detail scan给
india的时间都在这里了。

This school is pretty famous for its IP related course.
If you're gonna practice IP, you'll find it much easier to get job opportuni
ties there.

各有利弊吧-
小firm的好处就是上手快,可以很快就cover很多accounts;但是小firm的客户规模小--
虽然五脏俱全,但终究是只麻雀;而且做audit testing也不是很多,经常只是vouching.
Big4不好地方就是林子大分工细,刚进去常常要做routine or tedious work,such as
footing, making copies, confirmations, etc. 但是客户规模大,见多了猪跑将来
inteview的时候也能说几句;而且audit testing方式比较多也比较好,能学些东西. 重
要的是放在resume上的经历好看.
当然,个人能力更重要,小的里面有出类拔萃的人,大的里面也有啥都学不到最后只能抱
怨的人.

That's great. I'm in University of Houston now. Although the IP rank here is
also high, but the opportunities are much less than NY, CA, DC and Chicago.

这种问题永远都是炕。
我在小firm，做tax，做了一年多了，现在90%的work都是独立完成，也不怎么问经理问
题了。我corporation, partnership, personal的return都做过，学得倒是很广泛。
小firm的缺点：客户较小，我们公司最大的客户也就是个私人的医院，根本就没有SEC
client，所以很多东西都简单化了。所有客户都是用M-1，我从来没用过M-3。另外一点
，小firm根本就不注重training，很多东西都是靠自己摸索出来的。（不过这点的好处
是可以培养独立学习的能力）

Santa Clara is a great place. I know there are quite a few Chinese students
there. Good luck with studies.
As to reading before law school, my feeling is that if you are really
motivated, read some serious history. If you are not that motivated, I
recommend the Harry Potter series.

I would recommend Planet Law School II.
But I gave up the preparation strategy recommended in that book coz it's too
demanding on my time and self-discipline.

哪能charge老板啊,都是charge客户的,你是新人,rate会很低,例如老人80一小时,你才
20一小时,所以即使你花的时间多,但是bill的钱数却不会增加多少.
我从工作的第一天下午开始就做bank rec了,小firm根本没有training,就是自己看以前
怎么做的,照葫芦画瓢呗,实在不懂就问同事.

I switched to a small firm a few months ago and was very impressed that the
2nd year staff were running audit engagements from planning all the way to
reporting. Unthinkable in my old firm.
Time charging can be tricky, but in my opinion, be honest and charge the
actual. Don't eat the hours - it's misleading! If it takes 10 hours to get
one task done, then take the time and charge it. Get it right first. No one
expects a new staff to achieve both quality and efficiency.

well i guess we have different definitions.
i think of it like billable hrs - i sit for 8 hrs, but i could only bill 6
hrs of real studying.

so true
efficiency is my biggest problem.
i typically spend 1 hr on studying and the next 2 hrs on 'resting'...
