后知后觉看了《The Great Gatsby》，感叹一下浮华的美国梦背后的荒凉。
Gatsby，一个从North Dakota荒凉的农场里走出来的不名一文的穷小子以
一个偶然的机会跌跌撞撞地闯进了心之向往的上流社会。在疯狂地收敛了财富
之后，Gatsby像一个谜一样成为了上流社会不可或缺的大人物。接下来自然而
然的是金碧辉煌，美仑美奂的城堡和盛大繁华，纸醉金迷，流光溢彩的 party。
然而在如此喧嚣浮华，衣着光鲜的背后，Gatsby却仍然一无所有。在这一场场
的让人目眩的派对之后，却没有人能记住主人的名字。就连所谓的爱情都是如此
的虚假，如过眼烟花，转瞬即逝。
当Tom以居高临下的姿态，带着与生俱来的高贵的傲娇，对他说，他，Gatsby，
身体里永远没有流着贵族的血液时，Gatsby终于爆发了，全然顾不上他昂贵的外
衣，梳得一丝不苟的头发和端庄有教养的举止。这难道不是么？Gatsby内心的空
虚正如他的宏伟的城堡底下的支柱，空空如也。他必须要用勋章，用牛津校友的身
份掩盖他心中的不自信和恐慌。在别人面前，他必须是彬彬有礼的绅士，是翻云覆
雨的大亨。然而面对自己，他看见的是曾经经历的残酷的战争和一无所有的内心的
迷惘。在这虚伪的华丽之后，Gatsby唯一能够向往的美丽是爱情，神圣不可侵犯
的爱情。Gatsby所做的一切，包括这些个疯狂的派对和堆积如山的财富都是为了
他心中纯洁的爱，他的女神daisy。只有他的爱是属于他自己的，而其他的一切，
财富，地位，和来来往往的上流社会的男男女女们，都是抓不住的流沙和匆匆过客。
Gatsby为爱情目眩神迷，全然忘记了daisy已经不是当年为爱不顾一切的少女。
Gatsby明白daisy需要的是富裕的生活，所以他敛积财富，他拼命爬上和她一样
的地位。但是他无法说服自己daisy爱的不是他，而是表象。当他为daisy承担下
所有的罪责，被子弹射穿胸膛的一刻，这个“永远能在自己身上看到希望的人”却永
远没有希望了。在他生命完结的一刹那，也许他还有着终于接到蒙昧以求的daisy
的电话的欣慰和对未来不能陪伴她度过的失落。但是他也许从未知道过，他的爱情
其实在此之前就已经不存在了。
Gatsby死了。没有吊唁，没有鲜花，仿佛这个人从来没有存在过。一场浮华终于
归于尘土。

我曾经以为我喜欢的人是盖茨比，后来发现我自己内心才是，单纯喜欢一个人的感觉不
知道是不是被辜负一次，就再也不会回来了。。。。
唉，人家盖茨比的结局是好的，否则面对从年少时候起就喜欢多年的人永远背过去的身
影，那才叫难过!

我觉得Gatsby才可怜，死的时候还没明白

其实这个对研究美国当代社会倒是挺有意义的。
当年很多老移民都是两肩膀子扛一个脑袋上了船就到美国淘金来的。
这些人后来成了各个现在大集团的创始人。
话说有次跟邻居一美国老头瞎聊，他老爸是原来在纽约做会计的。
年轻的时候和一个街上的摆摊小贩儿很熟。
然后，该小贩儿就是四季酒店创始人

Julian Niccolini is a New York City restaurateur who co-owns The Four

The Four Seasons is a New American cuisine restaurant in New York City

Opened in 1959, the Four Seasons is associated with a number of milestone

introducing the idea of seasonally-changing menus to America. It was the
first destination restaurant to print its menus in English.[citation needed]
It was the first US restaurant (outside of California) to serve American
wine. The Four Seasons was also the first restaurant in the US to cook using

The artist Mark Rothko was engaged to paint a series of works for the

hotel和餐馆是两码事：
Four Seasons Hotels, Inc. is a Canadian-based international luxury, five-
star hotel management company. Travel + Leisure magazine and Zagat Survey
rank the hotel chain's 92 properties among the top luxury hotels worldwide.[

Canadian businessman Isadore Sharp founded Four Seasons in 1960. While a
young architect working for his father, Sharp designed a motel for a family

area, he designed the hotel as an oasis for business travelers; the Four
Seasons Motor Hotel opened in 1961. Sharp built more hotels, but upscale

hotel chain的创始人是学建筑的，restaurant的那个是个意大利madcap maitre d'
