As I believe, the builder can't refuse to sell the house to you if you don't
want to use their designated lender. That violates Fair Housing in some sense
ba???

they are the biggest builders in the area, that's for sure.
There are some national survey companies doing survey of all the builders.
Those big builders usually give out generous incentives (a raffle ticket for
drawing for cruises, movie tickets) to encourage you to do the surveys. And
people participating in the surveys usually give out good scores unless they
have big complaints towards their builders since they know a good ranking will
help when they want to sell the houses.

yeah, i guess we should trust the data with reservations. kaka..
in southern california, california pacific and standard pacific are among the
worst and the most greedy. i've been visiting model homes of various builders
and i find out that the homes built by the two pacifics have the following
disadvantages (compared to other builders):
1. the lots are closer to the major traffic (the reasons might be that the two
builders want to pay less to get bigger tracts. also they are the first two to
