There are some IP camera that can send you emails with pictures when motion
detector got triggered, don't know which brand is better though.

not sure if that worth the trouble. you will get a lot of false alarms:
birds, squirrels, wind, snow/rain, delivery people, street cars ... the
signal you want is buried in the background noise.
maybe you can use a thermal camera to only pick up living targets, but a
thermal camera costs thousands.
