2014年10月14日递上RESPONSE TO REF,等到2015年1月办了加急,PP 1月8日开始，今天
早晨收到邮件说CASE 更新，又是个REF,简直无语了，有人遇到过类似的情况吗？我办
加急时，附上了I-140 收据和REF的信，10月份交Response to REF时只收到邮件说
USCIS收到我的RESPONSE,会在两个月内给消息，办加急时没有把这封邮件打印出来附上
，当时想给了CASE NUMBER,所有信息应该是联动的，现在看来不一定，应为收到我的加
急申请那天，不断收到USCIS的邮件和短信，更新状态，连着变了3次，开始是收到加急
I-140申请，然后变成收到我的Response to REF,两个月后会给我通知云云。当时心里
就觉得不对劲，却也没有采取行动。5天后收到纸质的通知，说收到I-140form, PP
start at 1/8/15.真没有想到PP半天，紧张这么久，又等来个REF,还没有收到纸质的信
，也不知要补啥，欲哭无泪啊！

看中了一个lake front 带游泳池（7m x 12m左右大小）的房子。只是在北边，一年
有四到五个月是冬天。。。结冰前把水抽干？春天后灌水，换filter 等等或者请公
司负责每个月的维护？请公司的话费用是多少？
有经验的大家谈谈谢谢！

不是北方ID，不过我猜北方也不能把水抽干吧？我假设你说的是in-ground的泳池，抽
干时间那么长，泳池也该毁了吧。一年有半年冬天的地方，有室外泳池就是任性。虽然
看到有人痛恨泳池，一上手就填，以前很不以为然，但你这气候，填了也挺好。

有没有淘气娃？
有的话，填掉，会放心点。不然，每次娃在后院，需要每时每刻盯着。
水不要抽干。可以稍微放掉一些，然后加盖。

绝对不要买游泳池。你花在维护上的时间比游泳的时间多多了。我是过来人，知道维
护游泳池是多么费钱和费时间。

游泳池需要加氯，加硬水剂，加pH调节剂，还要买试纸测量这些指标。每个星期要用
长刷子刷池壁和池底，每天都要把水过滤几个小时。你家里如果有小孩，游泳池就是
一个潜在的杀手。

vinyl的pool应该比fiberglass和plaster的都便宜，不可能是贵的吧。我只见过
plaster的。我猜vinyl的是不是一般是小池子？

俺在北方，有一个泳池感觉挺好。
感觉吗就是要么有钱，要么有时间有热情自己DIY。两不沾的话，有个泳池是很麻烦的

这个维护是很烦，我自己也不会游泳，主要是以后小孩学游泳也方便。。。还有在家
开公司party之类的，这样至少有个玩的主题可以解决大家带孩子来party 孩子无聊的
问题。
你一般每个月游泳池维护上花多少钱和时间？请公司的话100一个月搞得定么？

Pool大的话，DIY建议一定要买个pool cleaner robot，这样自己就是每周带水样去
pool store免费测水样，然后按小二写的方案加料。愿意自己几块钱买个kit，就自己
在家测水质然后加料就好。这样算下来每周需要自己动手的也就十几分钟。以前雇过外
面公司维护，$90-$100一个月，pool boy 干的很快，我觉得他in and out 也就1刻钟
，不超过20分钟。

那个过滤器的电动机耗电700瓦，每天至少要开12小时以上。各种化学品都比较贵，估
计自己维护，每个月要花50元的化学品，和大量的时间。池底和池壁每个星期都要刷
，否则就是一层滑溜溜的东西。池底还要用吸头去吸沉淀物。管理稍有疏忽，池水两
天就是碧绿。如果家里有小孩，他们玩水时，大人必须要在池子旁边守着，绝对不能
在屋里遥远看着。在屋里你永远都看不到池子底部发生了什么事。游泳池的事故发生
只需要两三分钟的疏忽就足够。还要防止你邻居的孩子趁你不在偷偷来游泳。如果出
了事故，一切责任都在你身上，尽管是他们未经允许来游泳的。

你必须要随时保持加热。一个游泳池有几十吨到上百吨水，不是说加热就可以加热的
。你要一直保持水的温度。花费可以想象。

owning a pool is nothing to be afraid of. it is just like owning a new
machine in your house (a car, a snow blower, a mower etc). all you need to
do is to read a little bit about it. once you know how it works, you will
have more time to enjoy it and less time to work on it.
my suggestion, let a pool company do the first closing or opening. it costs
about 200-300 per opening/closing, but you will have chance to ask them all
questions and learn more about yoru pool - where is the pump, where is the
filter, how much chemical need to be used, how to put on the cover etc. once
you have some basic ideas, your can easily find more online, and you will
become an expert very quickly.
a well maintained pool actually takes less time. once you figure out when,
how and by how much you add chemicals, you can just get things running
automatically.
In summer, I only need to spend less than 15 min every two weeks to check
out my pool. in most cases, I don't need to do anything. My pump circulates
automatically, and my chlorine feeder adds chlorine automatically.
electricity, chemical and supplies all added together only cost me $50-60
per month.
I do closing and opening by myself. Closing takes about 1 full day, opening
takes about half day.
I learned everything through reading the manuals and the Internet. I did
encounter problems when I started, that's why I suggested you do your first
maintenance with professionals. It is the best chance for you to learn your
pool. then it will become easier and easier.

一年下来的确很磨人，不过大致明白点门道了，估计今年和以后要花的精力和钱会少多
了，万事一理，难者不会，会者不难。我觉得这是个生活态度的问题，我比较反感一有
人上来问游泳池的事就一迭声地说填了填了。我建议如果你碰到游泳池的房子，要么自
觉自己没兴趣学点新玩艺就绕道走，要么就enjoy这个新玩艺，生活本来就是要enjoy的
，包括enjoy生活中的各种麻烦和苦炼，具体到泳池的问题上，什么精力银子小孩安全
什么的都不是什么过不去理由。上来就动则填池子的，我说句不恭的话，真有点煮鹤焚
琴之感，要是你搞不定它也不想搞，留着别的买家去搞好了，别让鬼子看着我们老中全
都是填池子不会enjoy生活的人。
嗯，夏夜跟老婆女儿夜游的感觉还是蛮爽的，今年争取配上啤酒烧烤西瓜

In Massachusetts, you have only one month time to use the pool when the air
temperature is above 30 degree Celsius. You are maintaining the pool most
other time. You have to maintain your pool for entire summer from May to
September even if you are not using it, or it will become like a septic tank
. Most pools will collapse or crack easily if you drain the water. You have
to fill it with water and maintain it. You have to check chlorine level,
water hardness and water pH regularly and make appropriate adjustment. The
life of a vinyl liner is only about 8-9 years and cost a thousand dollars to
replace.
In winter time you still have to maintain a closed pool. You have to check
the pool cover after a heavy snow fall to make sure the cover is not under
heavy weight of snow. You may have to drain water from the top of the cover
using a pump.
The electricity here in Massachusetts is 20 cents per kilowatthour. Your
700 watts filter motor will consume $50 electricity each month if run 12
hours per day. All other chemicals add up to another $50 per month. The
filter has to be back washed regularly. The water has precipitation in the
bottom of a pool which cannot be sucked up by the top inlet pool. You have
to clean it manually each week.
I will never buy a house with a pool again.

adding another sample from MA. in my part of the town, more than half of the
houses have pools. nearly all of them have kids.
I open my pool at the beginning of June, and close it at the end of of Sep.
to me, both June and July are swim-able, sometimes part of Aug.
if you don't plan to swim much, you can even push to open your pool at the
end of June, if you did the closing properly, the water is going to be fine
(a little bit green tint, but after filtering for 24 hours, it will be as
clear as sky). you can certainly close it earlier in Sep. the temperature is
going to be low enough, so it is safe to close it sooner if you don't use
it much.
during the swimming season, only light maintenance is needed. I did spend
more hours at the beginning to learn, but it became easier later on. I
followed with my established routines, the water quality simply stays good
for a long time, so I don't need to do much. I have a vacuum (Kreepy Krauly)
and I clean the leaves at the bottom once two or 3 weeks. my pump is set to
run 6 hours per day (using a timer). I found it sufficient in the MA
temperature.

absolutely. never drain a pool! every new pool owners should shout that 10
times! it is the single stupid thing one can do to destroy a perfectly
working pool (which, unfortunately, I have done that 3 times, but with a lot
of pain, I fixed most of the damages myself).

to me, closing the pool means nothing needs to be done. all you need to do
is to wait for summer to come again.
perhaps you had a water-proof cover (like a tarp). I used a tarp in the
first two winters, and had troubles like you described. But then I bought a
safety cover. Water no longer accumulates, and the cover can support a lot
of weight. I leave it alone for the entire winter without any additional
work (the pool company suggested to add 2 gal shock after thanksgiving)
I know National Grid just raised the rate, but my town was operated by a
different company. My electricity rate is about 12c to 13c/kWh. For my 1.5HP
pump to run 6-7 hours, the cost is dehumidifier in the basement. The regularly consumed chemicals are the DE
power ($20/bag use for 4 months) and chlorine 3" tabs. At closing or opening
, I need additional chemicals, but on average less than $100 total per
season.
I have a large lot, so I don't have the urgency needing that space for
anything else. a pool is perfect, I do not swim often, but when my son is
able to swim, I am sure he will have a lot of fun, so will the family.
