Want one that is very portable, but with reasonable HD video quality that I
can bring with me anywhere conveniently and shoot video for my kid any time.
Any recommendations?

GF1/GF2. If you don't mind stepping up one step in size,
consider GH1/GH2 for better video and EVF.
