Just bought the house a few months ago, and the heating system did not work
after working for a few days. The home warranty company sent a contractor to
check, and the technician said the whole heating system needs to be
replaced. They will replace the system, but we need to pay $1300 out of
pocket. Is it normal to pay out of pocket? Is $1300 too much? Thanks!

我一直用old republic 的home warranty。每次都付60. 给我换过一个A/C主机。一
个锅炉。一个heater 主机。还有一半roof。都是每次60. 没有其他payment。

Thanks. How much you paid for the warranty? mine is $440, which the seller
bought we we bought the house (about 1800 soft).

我没有买过，都是seller 买的。大概看房子大小和年份吧。我的基本都在375 和
395之间。还是包括水管系统的那种。

这种seller买的home warranty 有时候coverage 很有限，你要好好读policy，但是一
般是上门一次付$60左右，如果要换东西看policy。

Here is the breakdown of the out of pocket payment:
—flue pipe 175
—gas flex 135
—access 250
—electronic modification 175
—transition 185
—return modification 185
—permit 250
—title 24 350
I do not understand most of the above. Anyone has similar experience? thanks.

那是。所以每次我agent 都帮我要最好的。如果对方不同意， agent自己再贴点钱买给
我。因为我家小agent和我已经有10多年的交情了。

我家换锅炉，除了60块还交了一些附件的钱一共250还是350的记不太清楚了。
有的warranty只管主件，附件要自己花钱。

Thanks to all. Talked to the home warranty company, they said they don't
cover the modifications that are made necessary. These modifications are
necessary to install the new unit, as they cannot use old parts on the new
unit.
They just order and cover a $600 furnace, but require me to pay $1375 out of
pocket. So these home warranties do like a scam. Can and how I argue with
them? any suggestion is appreciated.
