Primary Job Responsibilities of Student Services Associate
Assist with course registration and student registration
Maintain faculty files
Coordinate advising tour in China
Assist with summer staff training
Assist with airport pickup arrangements and coordination for
USPP students during Summer 2012
Assist with registration related arrangements and coordination
after students’ arrival
Assist with successful destination university admission from
summer bridge and transfer of I20 forms for students
Assist with accommodation applications and confirmation for USPP
students in the US, especially for those clearing students who have not
made the accommodation applications in advance.
Assist with providing student support services during their stay
in the US
1. Advising services for students’ study, life and various problems
2. Assist to resolve various problems that students meet
3. Coordination with universities for relevant issues
4. Emergency or incidents handling
Assist to create and execute Summer Bridge social and cultural
activity plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and

Additional Support
Global Student Ambassadors: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will
coordinate activities related to student ambassadors, as well as maintain
quality control of student ambassadors.
Campus Life: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will identify
speakers of interest and solicit students to get involved in campus life at
various levels.
Personal Management and Student Development: The STUDENT
SERVICES ASSOCIATE will plan, coordinate, and execute activities designed to
make student life more manageable and enjoyable during the students’ time
in Boston.
Holiday Activities: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will plan,
coordinate, and execute activities promoting US holidays.
Quality Assurance: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will assist
in the development and execution of quality assurance measures at all
critical junctures of the program.
Student-Parent Community: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will
assist in the development and maintenance of a student-parent community on a
regular (weekly or bimonthly) basis.
Newsletter: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will support a “
Summer Bridge Activity Newsletter,” which informs parents and family
members of the wrap-around activities and social/cultural events taking
place during the Summer Bridge.
Tutoring: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE is expected to
coordinate all Writing Tutoring and Specialized Tutoring activities, as well
as monitor tutors and students.
Field trips and excursions: As part of a non-credit course
called Exploring America, students will partake in daytrips and lectures in
and around the Boston area. The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will be expected
to assist in the coordination and execution of all logistical aspects of
these events. He or she will also be expected to attend all events.
Student Conduct: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will assist in
the communication, implementation of the conduct policy, and conduct
meetings.
Student Communication: The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will reach
out to students (phone, email, in-person) as needed.
Hours and Compensation
Hourly position without benefits. Pay will depend on candidate’s
experience; range is $13-$15 per hour. Normal business hours are Monday-
Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm, with a one hour lunch break. 35 hours per week.
Some weekend and night work is necessary, particularly between April-August.
Reporting
The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will report to the Assistant Director of the
US-Sino Pathway Program and liaise with Kaplan China.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. The candidate should have at least lived in
mainland China for 18 years, speak and write fluent Mandarin, can work
independently under pressure. Experience working with international students
(prefer experience working with Chinese students). The STUDENT SERVICES
ASSOCIATE must demonstrate a high level of flexibility, positive attitude,
and initiative. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
Outlook.
