Job Description
Department of Ocean Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University invites
applications for the faculty positions of Physical Oceanography at all
professional levels. We also open three positions of postdoctoral research
fellows.
Zhejiang University is located in Hangzhou, a beautiful city owning the rich
natural environment of rivers, lakes, and hills and a history of over 2,200
years. Founded in 1897, Zhejiang University ranks among the top
universities in China. Today we has more than 22,000 undergraduate students
studying in 122 programs and close to 21,000 graduate students in over 320
master’s and PhD programs.
The candidate will be a member of Institute of Physical Oceanography. The
institute focuses on the physics and geography of the ocean currents and the
physical-biological interactions in coastal and ocean ecosystem. The
research will also focus on developing a monitoring and observation system
on the macro-tidal estuary and nearby costal environment, improving and
applying remote sensing technologies on coastal and ocean ecosystem, and
understanding nearshore morpho-hydrodynamics, coastal-ocean processes, etc.
Applications should specialize in any oceanography aspect of the physical
oceanography, fluid dynamics, marine remote sensing, costal and nearshore
morphology, marine geophysics, marine biology, modeling & mathematical
ecology, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. The candidate must
have a strong record of research and a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
The candidate is expected to conduct both research and teaching in
oceanography. It is expected that the candidate has an interest in engaging
in existing research projects and can demonstrate the potential for
developing a strong externally funded research program. In addition, for the
Professor positions, the applicants should be internationally recognized as
an expert in his/her area of research.
