Man dies after being pushed onto subway tracks in Midtown
A man was killed after witnesses reported he was pushed onto subway tracks
and struck by a train in Midtown today, sources said.
Callers told 911 operators that the man was pushed onto the tracks and
struck by a southbound N train in the station at West 49th Street and
Seventh Avenue, around 12:30 p.m., sources said.
The victim, a 58-year-old Asian man, was rushed to St. Luke’s Roosevelt
Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
Witnesses told cops the suspect fled, sources said. The suspect was
identified as a black male in his twenties with short dredlocks, wearing a
white t-shirt and black beanie.
The suspect was also described as emotionally disturbed and was also
overheard talking to himself.
Police shut down the station to interview witnesses, but cops don’t have
anyone in custody yet.
