I cannot type in Chinese
I have a relative, who is now almost 4 years old, was born deaf, zero 听力!
She did 电子耳
窝移植 when she was close to 2 years old in China. Now, I’d say, if people
cannot see that she is wearing this 电子耳窝, they won’t know that she has
ear problems.
The difficulty comes from the first couple of years when the parents need to
take the child to special classes to train the listening ability for
certain sounds. Even with 电子耳窝, the 听力 is not 100 percent as that of a
normal person, so those special 听力 training classes are a must for them.
In China, those classes are very very expensive. My relative went to
Shanghai and had the best classes offered in China, more than 6000 RMB/per
class for small classess. But I think in US, that expense should be cheaper
, if compared with the family income and tax deduction. After training, I’
d say, the kids are normal kids!!
I also know a nurse in US whose second son was born deaf and her son now is
a grown-up. She told me that except for some sports activities that her son
cannot practice, she basically cannot tell her second son is much different
than her other kids.
som LZ, do not be too dicouraged!
