hahaha, seriously, back in Texas, we once saw an apartment with a working oil well in the court yard. That was quite a scene!

You can be sure they will come drilling a deep hole in your kitchen for the last drop of oil on this planet. Yeah, I know, we used to joke about this, but now it's becoming realistic. You young guys probably will see it with your own eyes.

seriouly :), how would it affect the resale? i doubt the current owner know who actually has the rights , they are the third owner.

I will walk away from that property unless that is your dream house. It is a hassle to have that attached to your house and it will cause some trouble for the loan (maybe more paperwork depending on lender). And you have to disclose that to future buyers. I saw many sellers release the mineral rights, but still a few want to retain the mineral rights and usually those houses are not very easy to sell . I am also in DFW area.
