1. It's a pain to talk anything about science in a metaphysical way
with people who know little about science but sensitive enough
and confident enough to doubt whether science itself is an
"inhumane" thing or not.
2. The strength of science roots in the facts it describes, explains
and most of spectacular, predicts. David Hume's often mis-quoted
story doesn't mean that science is useless, it only served for the
illustration of Hume's philosophy, that all knowledge comes from
