Linux with Linksys 10/100 PC card# Unix - 噫吁兮,危乎高哉

I have a Laptop installed Redhat Linux 6.2., and I also have
a Linksys 10/100 PC card to connect to ethernet jack in office and
library. When I install the PCcard, it ask me to download
pcmcia-cs-x.tar.gz. and compile and install it.
However, I found out there was already a pcmcia directory, and all the
lights on the PC card cable lit up normally, I guess that the connection
is working even without install pcmcia-cs-x. Am I right?
if so, which file do I look for to change setting information
