我在作computation
但有些script software只能在unix下run
连linux都不行
我们组的SGI慢的一塌糊涂
老板原则上同意买台快的机子
但我不知道普通的PC可不可以装UNIX
而且UNIX OS到哪里去当比较好
听说DEBIAN比较好

maybe sun solaris for x86?

debian is of course a unix, if linux is considered as unix.

Which unix are you talking about? Of course PCs can be installed UNIX,
Many flavors of BSD, Linux, Solaris etc.

What kinds of script is it?
The default shell of linux is bash.
If you change the shell of linux system,
(csh, tcsh,...), the script might work.
"man chsh" for more information
There are Solaris for PC and freeBSD for PC.

hehe, then it's true under your definition. my definition of unix is very
broad, including everything directly from system v, bsd or inspired from them.
such as Linux, Mac OS X etc.

Linux = Linux Is Not a UniX and GNU = GNU is Not a Unix

I guess your script software depends on some specific programs.
If these programs are designed and compiled for SGI without
source code, you'd better stick on SGI. If you have the source,
then probably you can try some UNIX variants on PC.
