It is with deep regret that I report the death of Xing Zhong, a promising
graduate student doing post-doctoral work in the Math Department. Xing was
discovered on 12/31 near his residence, some distance from University
Heights and NJIT. There was no reported evidence of foul play. We are
awaiting the results of the investigation. We have been in contact with the
family and expect them to arrive in Newark Sunday evening. A gathering for
the NJIT community has been arranged on Wednesday, January 9th at 2:30 PM in
611 Cullimore, in order to share thoughts and remembrances of Xing. Our
heartfelt sympathy is extended to his family, colleagues and friends.
