我现在在读PHD，做过一个细胞方面的模型，用过MONTE CARLO METHOD,会不会对找工作
有帮助。
是不是还要准备考M和C。请教已经M通过的前辈，准备M大约需要多少金钱和时间。听说
准备M所需的时间与前两门不是一个量级的。

monte carlo is not much used by actuaries.

I was always told that 2 exams is the best for finding an entry-level job.
If I were you, I would spend the time on looking for a job instead of
preparing for exams. Of course, you might still register for exam M to show
potential employer that you are determined. But the priority would to
finding a job.

If I were you, I would spend the time on looking for a job instead of
preparing for exams. Of course, you might still register for exam M to show
potential employer that you are determined. But the priority would to
finding a job.

That's the situation before this year. And it may still be the best for
undergrad with green card, but as a F1 graduate student, the more exams the
better
I am sure a lot of people will back me up on this...

This is so not true, at least not if the case you are describing.
first of all, 90% of the undergrad people we interviewed are F1!
okay, we are one of the companies that sponser H1, so it may be different,
but the actuarial program where you are at, consist of about 99% F1 for
master students, and a good 80% F1 for undergrads.
the head of the actuarial dept jokes a lot that he needs to learn Chinese,
although his joke would be more appropriate with Malay these days......

oh yeah, in fact, our top candidate last year was a Korean grad student with
no exam. English is his 3rd language, but he is just excellent with
communication. Very good person for a sales dept kind of job. He is still
our number 1 fulltime candidate this year (he has 2 exams now).
and our new hire this year is a undergrad girl with 2 exams.
and we refused to offer one of our in house inten fulltime offer with 4
exams and 4.0 GPA......(clear personality mismatch)
Another Korean guy last year (my

分析太透彻了！一个本科生能看出研究生的问题所在，太聪明了！
communication skills最重要，没有actuarial经验不要紧，只要有其它相关经验或一
些学校协会的领导经历，在面试时能吹对路子就行。
不过，我感觉首先要让resume能land一个interview。正因为现在读精算的国际学生多
了，在光看简历不能充分了解交流和语言能力的情况下，公司一般会从考过3-4门的
candidate中去选面试者(当然其它experience不能和只考过1-2门的相差太大)，主要是
水涨船高呀，听说5年前工作之前考出3-4门算overqualified的呀，虽然第3门对美国人
来说仍然是个坎，哎！就像TOEFL考到600分不一定拿奖学金，但是不到600分几乎就没

I got a job with two exams. i spent MUCH MORE time in looking for an
internship than studying for exams. I would suggest you spend more time in
improving your English and interview skills.
