A non-professional's 2c:
The absence of physical depiction forces you to concentrate on the basics. A
bit of knowledge about the principles of 2D art design would definitely help.
Speficically, you can look for the harmony/contrast of colors and lines, the
tension/flow of lines, and the balance (or lack of it) among its various
elements.
I think it should apply to people like Mondrian, Klee, Kandinski and Pollock.

mondrian is quite different from the rest that you mentioned...
anyhow, he's already much better than his followers. those

some time, it's a fun to learn something you didn't know before.
it could be a waste since you may decide you still don't like it
after knowing it. however, it could also turn out to be an ecstasy
as it may open a totally new and enjoyable field in front of your
very eyes.

除此之外,许多抽象艺术能给人以启示,从自己的角度理解或是创造
或是表达一种感受/一些激情。从历史的角度上来说,若干年后,可能
他们不会留下任何作品,但是他们这种创新的手法也许成为后来艺术
家们的灵感和作品的来源,这就足以成为它存在/展出的理由。
时常,我不太理会作品的历史和时代背景,却用自己的感觉和情绪去
判断和理解他们,虽然很绝对,不过在我的小世界里,已经发现他们
中很多可取之处。况且,我也喜欢这样的一种揣摩方式,较为轻松而
自由。;-)
