SNAREs can be grouped into t-SNARE (target) and v-SNARE (vesicle), or Q-SNARE
and R-SNARE based on sequence. 4 families have been found: syntaxin, SNAP-25-1,
SNAP-25-2 (Q type), and synaptobrevin (R type).
SNARE complex during membrane fusion is actually a 4 helical bundle, 2 from each
membrane location in the ratio of 3Q : 1R.
Besides this, the subunit c of the V0 sector of V-type ATPase, also called
proteolipid, is also shown to facilitate homotypic fusion in yeast, which was
published in Nat

I just briefly go through the paper, not look into detail of many gel
pictures yet. It is a very interesting paper. Basically the authors found that
NO can inhibit the exocytosis of Weibel-Palade bodies (by endothelial cells to
mediate thrombosis and inflammation). the mechanism is that NO will
nitrosylate the cysteine residues on NSF, which blocks its SNARE complex
diassembly function.
I am not familiar with this process. Just have several questions.
1) how does NSF diassemble the SNARE
