That's not surprising at all. I will be very surprised if it was the
other way around.
Monoclonal antibody is against one specific epitype of antigen. If
it works, it works. If not (for example, under immunohistochemistry
conditions, methanol, paraglutahyde...), it won't. Polyclonal antibody
is against a great variety epitype of the antigens. Some clones of
antibody might only work for western, the others might work for immunohist,
some might work for flow, eta. Very few monoclonal antibodies ca
other way around.
