不一定，很多地方tenure还不够，没有funding照样关门走人。

在很多医学院，tenure 很大程度上只是一种荣誉，表示你到了那个份了。
在一些别的系，比如统计系，商学院，tenure既是荣誉，又是 job security。因为他
们本来 funding 就不多，他们的工钱大部分系里付的，靠教课挣来的。
医学院的教授很大一部分钱是由funding配的。医学院的各色professor比学生还多，大
部分人没有教学任务。这时如果没有funding，工钱会少掉很多。而且有些地方的
office 租金和水电费还要出funding出。没钱了，office都没有了。这个时候就算没人
赶，自己也不好意思待了。
纯生物系的 tenure 也许会更值钱一点。
俺就听说过这么点。

in med school (no undergrads), school will kick you away even tenured but no
funding
in standard school(under+grad), the newest example i hear is 60% of your
salary is from funding
