本人博士研究生在读，但是今年没有收到1042S表格，以下是payroll的回信，请有经验
者帮忙解答了。谢谢！

You recently submitted a Request for a Copy of Form W-2 or Form 1042-s.
Based upon your 2013 tax information, you did not have a Form 1042-s issued
to you. Please let me know if you need a copy of your Form W-2.

你去年拿的是TA或者RA 工资还是fellowship，如果是工资，就是w2，没有1042S，如
果拿的是fellowship，就是不干活但是拿钱的，就有1042S

你的说法不对，TA/RA的wage的头5k免税也可以有1042S。
主要的问题是，如果符合treaty免税，需要在发工资的当年初填8233表，并交给雇主
payroll，这样雇主在免税的收入范围内不hold税，该部分收入出现在1042S上。否则所
有收入都hold税，并出现在w2上，自己报税的时候再把应免税的收入扣除（如果是NR，
自己在1040NR Line8/1040NREZ Line3里把符合treaty的收入去掉；如果是R，在1040
Line21写上负的免税金额，并填8833表）
如果今年还没填写并提交2014年8233表，明年还是不会收到2014年1042S表。

How come his title is still postdoc fellow after so many years?
Shouldn't he at least change to research associate?
Another strange thing is he keep switching labs after he publishi those N/S papers.

好几个PI都曾经抱怨过当了PI以后完全成了职业要饭者
离理想中的作科学越来越远

发2002年Nature的时候Eric是个graduate student。他在Jason Cyster实验室毕业后
当然不可能直接去做faculty，于是去了cornell作postdoc。之后似乎publication一般
，当然当不了faculty，于是去columbia作了第二轮postdoc.
之前Nature我想可能是graduate school之前发的吧,比如本科的时候。
他学生时候的publication比postdoctoral好只能说明，他postdoc选的实验室一般般，学生的时候老板（Cyster,Bartel)太牛。

echoMusic是我做的，是192kbps，比pandora音质上应该好很多，所以文件也大很多，
下载速度自然也慢很多。而且服务器在国内，网络有时候会不好，没办法。

我想那他还不够牛,student有一篇nature，一篇JI的并不算太罕见。有看到学生发到2
篇CNS2篇CNS子刊，然后直接faculty的。

作为学生就可以了就算再来个CNS也不过是A和A+的区别。至于毕业做faculty 这个更多
的要看领域和做的具体玩意和发什么杂志基本没什么特别大的关系
