runsun's understanding of the sutta is correct. When in doubt about Chinese translation, cross-check with English and Pali text. AN 9.34 When this was said, Ven. Udayin said to Ven. Sariputta, "But what is the pleasure here, my friend, where there is nothing felt?" "Just that is the pleasure here, my friend: where there is nothing felt. http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/an/an09/an09.034.than.html runsun also attaches Pali fragment, which can't possibly mean‘不受后有’
if i remember it correctly, the tanslator of the English verion did not have deep actual practice experieces.so this can just for reference. ok, i don't know pali. i might be wrong, but that's my current understanding.

Well, I know Pali. 'vedana' means 'feeling' . 'vedayita' below is derived from it. The Pali words are completely different for 'feeling' and 受后有. This is not a matter of interpretation, and attainment is not needed here. You can look up Pali-English dictionary on-line. Here is a more complete Pali citation for AN 9.34: http://www.tipitaka.org/romn/cscd/s0404m2.mul3.xml Ekaṃ samayaṃ āyasmā sāriputto rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tatra kho

you know Pali, that is so awesome! ok, I read in whole the ‘Nibbana Sutta: Unbinding’ which you kindly provided the link: http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/an/an09/an09.034.than.html so the whole sutta is trying to explain the pleasure of unbinding. eventually ...."Furthermore, there is the case where a monk, with the complete transcending of the dimension of neither perception nor non-perception, enters & remains in the cessation of perception & feeling...." now, how you explain the mean

灭受想定 means feeling and perception doesn't arise temporarily. Abhidharma explains it as a state where all consciousness and mental activities ( represented by 受想 here) stop. This is tacit in the Agama sutra where it describes the sequence of 行 out of 灭受想定. 灭受想定 is a samadhi that only non-returners or arahants can achieve.
