薄薄几页纸,存在的问题和蕴含的价值,决定了一个人的命运。
两个人对于学术道德的态度差异
道德底线
Well said!
I always want to say something about this topic. At Boston, I guess some of
us know them or their friend... and heard more or less about it directly or
indirectly. So I held myself not making any comment. Especially I have no
respect to any of them. Maybe I am jealous (this might be true).
Really life is hard! As scientists, our life is determined by a few pages.
This is a real challenge to us. However, how to face it is the other fold
of challenge. An extreme example that I saw was the "work" on the last
piece of data that was wanted by Cell editor and reviewers. When the
manuscript was submitted, the paper was online in a few days. At that
moment, the life could be changed by that second! I saw that happened at my
second year as postdoc. Two excellent postdoc in the same lab; one had a
Cell paper and now faculty for many years and the other is still postdoc. ..
. So many examples that I saw around are being seen by you everyday.
If one wants to take a "shortcut", he must face all the possibilities: being
trashed, being ignored, continouosly successing ...
I recall Sinclair and his red wine story from Dept Pathology at HMS. How
lucky he is! But how much one wants to bet on it and hope to be luck as him
! If one wants to take a shortcut, better take more time to think about it!
