Postdoctoral Fellowship – Restriction Enzyme Division – Job Code 1042HZ
The Restriction Enzyme Division invites applications for the position of
postdoctoral fellow. Projects will be part of a basic research program
focusing on restriction enzymes specific to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine. The
project will involve cloning, overexpression, purification, assay-
development, and engineering of such enzymes, and their application to
questions of epigenetics. Research will be undertaken in a highly
collaborative and academic environment where publication of results is
expected.
The ideal candidate will:
• have a strong interest in scientific and technological
exploration and discovery;
• demonstrate a high level of initiative in performing experiments,
analyzing data, performing calculations and drawing conclusions regarding
progress and results of work;
• be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
• work under the guidance of an established senior scientist;
• be goal oriented within a team framework with exceptional
attention to detail.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related fields.
• Have “good hands” with proven bench skills.
• Experience with molecular cloning, detection, protein engineering
and protein purification. Bioinformatic application skills are preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong
relevant publication record.
