Dear xxx,
I am interested in your input on the above-mentioned manuscript. I am
considering triaging this article, and would appreciate your thoughts
regarding the article's chances of surviving the full review process for the
Journal.
We are only able to accept xxx% of papers submitted. In order to save time
for our reviewers and save time for authors, we are performing a preliminary
review of submissions. Would you be able to provide a rapid, preliminary
review of this paper - within about 5 days?
For this purpose, I am not asking for a full review. I am primarily
interested in your opinion (yes or no) regarding whether this paper (1) does
or could make an important and substantial contribution to the literature,
and so should get a full review or (2) would unlikely survive the review
process, and so should be triaged. If you think that the paper should be
triaged, I would appreciate a short paragraph stating your reasons, which
might be helpful to the authors.
