normal bah. the efficiency of heat pump drops when outside temp below 40f. 87-89F is plenty warm already.
【在 z****n 的大作中提到】 : Single family house, 室外温度35F左右,室内65-70F。 用电的heat pump维持温度 : 供应的 : 暖气只有87-89度。正常吗?是不是太低了?

Many Americans at 40s still have the student loan. It takes them years to pay back the loan. Most Asian families, as far as I know, will help kids on education expanse. Many reasons. I know one American who didn't go to Harvard due to she got full financial sponsorship from her state university. She is from middle class family. No one likes to have a huge debt.
【在 z****n 的大作中提到】 : yes, but I have. my question is about the air temperature of the first : stage, is 85-88 normal?. The second stage with heat strip could reach 110- : 120.
It's really normal, when outside is 35F, the air is barely luck warm at the best. In my house, the system automatically switch to furnace when the temperature outside drops under a certain level.

Please understand conventional heat-pump becomes less and less efficient as outside temperature goes down (when in heating mode), unless you use things like geothermal heatpump. Basically, "it generates least amount of heat when you need heat most".

NO! Heat pump will heat the air inside your house. Because your house's air is about 65 degrees, when it passes through the heat pump's heat exchanging element inside your house, its temperature raises about 20 degrees. If your current house air temperature is 40 degrees, I am sure it won't reach 85 degrees at all after it passes through the element. Exactly how hot your house can be depends on many factors like outside temperature, house size/ insulation etc. If you don't mind wasting money, yo

Yes, my heating system automatically switch to furnace when the temperature outside drops under 30F. But now the outside Temp is 35F, my house temp is 68, the heat pump can only generate 87-88F air, is this normal?
