In my area, realtor makes 3% (1/2 of the 6% fee spliting with listing agent) of the house selling price. Mortgage broker makes 1% of the loan amount (assume you put down 20%, so they make about 0.8% of the house price) Realtor does more work and some have to pay their broker a percentage or fixed monthly fee. I have many rich clients that are realtor or mortgage broker, so they do make a good living.
