The Position We seek a highly motivated Scientist to lead biomarker assay development efforts in support of oncology drug development and personalized patient care. The incumbent will be responsible for developing, qualifying/ validating, and implementing biomarkers and assays through exploration of innovative, cutting-edge technologies in focused disease areas (prostate, lung, breast, etc.). For this position, a strong background in molecular, cellular, genomic and/or proteomics assays, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in professional journals, is expected. Practical experience in cancer biomarker and disease biology would be an important asset. The successful candidate is expected to effectively develop and execute on innovative projects, publish exciting research in high quality scientific, technical or medical journals, present at professional meetings and promote collaborative efforts to push precision translational sciences forward. This Scientist is expected to be, or develop into, externally recognized expert in precision diagnostics and medicine. As a Scientist, you are expected to: Drive scientific and technical innovation by developing and executing on disease-focused biomarker assays Provide translational research service/product to advance oncology biomarker assessment and drug resistance mechanism in support of clinical drug development and personalized patient care Develop and effectively manage a translational research laboratory, including lab maintenance, writing SOPs, test procedures, protocols, reports , summarizing/presenting data, and participating in internal/external collaboration. BS/MS/MD/PhD degree in life sciences with >3 years of work experience in basic or translational research either in an academic or industry laboratory setting Solid hands-on experience and expertise in laboratory techniques, including molecular and cellular biology, such as gene cloning, qRT-PCR, digital PCR, Fluidigm, cell culture, ELISA, western, blood-based assays, etc Ability to plan, execute, analyze and troubleshoot experiments independently, and to analyze large biomarker datasets using statistical tools Ability to lead, influence and motivate others, and to distill complex issues and clearly articulate solutions Enthusiastic, creative, dedicated. Outstanding organizational, time management, and people interaction skills. The ability to work independently as well as with a team, demonstrate initiative, strong attention to details , able to multi-task, with effective verbal and written communication skills are a must Experience in oncology, genomic technologies, and clinical drug development is beneficial, including basic or advanced understanding of oncology biomarkers and drug resistance.
