The Position We seek a highly motivated and talented scientist to build and head our next generation sequencing (NGS)-based biomarker assay development efforts in support of clinical drug development and precision medicine. The incumbent will manage and execute complex technical and laboratory aspects of NGS- based assay development and clinical application. For this position, a strong molecular biology background and the associated analytical and bioinformatics knowledge is expected. Practical experience in disease biomarker and cancer biology would be an important asset. The successful candidate is expected to lead NGS-based projects, publish exciting research in high quality scientific, technical or medical journals, present at professional meetings and promote collaborative efforts to push precision medicine forward. This scientist is expected to be, or develop into, externally recognized expert in precision diagnostics and medicine. As a Scientist/Senior Scientist, you are expected to: Drive scientific and technical innovation by developing and executing on disease- focused, fit-for-purpose NGS assays Perform hands-on tasks to design, optimize, validate and implement targeted sequencing panels to advance clinical biomarker assessment Effectively manage a translational NGS team, and prepare SOPs and reports Thrive in a highly interactive, fast-paced and dynamic team environment, and actively participate in internal/external collaboration Who you are In adding new members to our team, we look for people who are also inspired by our mission and who would fit in well with the collaborative, rigorous and entrepreneurial spirit of the company culture. BS/MS/PhD degree in life sciences with >3 years of work experience in basic or translational research either in an academic or industry laboratory setting Deep knowledge and solid hands-on experience in the NGS assay development (sample preparation, library construction, DNA and RNA sequencing) and the associated analytical and bioinformatics knowledge/ skills Ability to plan, execute, analyze and troubleshoot experiments independently Ability to lead, influence and motivate others, and to distill complex issues and clearly articulate solutions Self-starter, proactive, and dedicated. Outstanding organizational, time management, and people interaction skills Demonstrate initiative, strong attention to details, flexible and willing to multi-task in a rapidly evolving scientific context Effective verbal and written communication skills are a must Familiar with NGS software analysis packages. Knowledge of Perl, Java, Python or C++ programming languages is preferred.
