The candidate will be responsible for optimizing T cells for immunotherapy applications, including investigating factors influencing T cell functionality, exploring genome modification conditions and analyzing experimental outcomes using in vitro and in vivo T cell immunotherapy models. About the job: • Be able to work independently and generate creative solutions for unique gene editing and immunotherapy challenges • Be responsible for experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, interpretation and troubleshooting • Work in a highly collaborative team environment • Present and discuss findings and data regularly both informally in lab meetings and in conferences • Develop project management strategies that include setting clear project goals and milestones, preemptively identifying technical challenges and their potential solutions, developing and adhering to standardized operating procedures, and pursuing a high standard of execution • Maintain precise and detailed ELN records including sample archiving About you: • PhD (or equivalent combination of degrees and experience) in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, BioEngineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline • 5+ year track record of lab-based life science research with exceptionally high standards of detail-oriented experimental execution and goal-oriented project management • Experience with DNA repair pathways, including non-homologous end joining, homologous recombination and double-stranded DNA break processing • Understanding of human T cell and/or CD34 hematopoietic stem cell biology • Experience with chimeric antigen receptors, tumor-targeting T cells or other T cell immunotherapy approaches is helpful but not essential • Familiarity with gene-specific nuclease platforms such as TALEN, ZFN, CRISPR/CAS9 • Experience with either virus-based gene therapy vectors such as lentivirus, retrovirus or nucleic acid delivery strategies such as plasmid or mRNA electroporation • Wide ranging skill set including polychromatic flow cytometry; MACS and FACS sorting approaches; viral vector handling and production; in vitro transcription; primary cell electroporation; intracellular staining; southern blot; microscopy; xenograft animal models; ELISA and real-time PCR analysis. • Demonstrated experience with molecular biology and tissue culture concepts and techniques, including handling and working with primary human samples • Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently in a results-oriented, dynamic environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and team orientation • Facility with standard digital communication, presentation and organizational tools • Self-directed individual who is able to work with limited direction in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
