如果楼主是出租房,property tax 是不能用schedule A 来 compute Itemized
Deduction. AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) is separate and relevant topic.
楼主可用 schedule E 来抵 rental income.
万一rental income 不能cover 由于出租而产生的所有cost (i.e. mortgage,
property tax, maintenance, depreciation, etc).其不够部分(被capped at $25K) 可以抵你的AGI (Adjusted Gross Income), given your yearly AGI <= $150K.

其实地产税本身就是税。严格说不叫抵税,只叫不重复收税(double taxation)罢了。

if this is rental property, then this becomes your operating expenses..
you can deduct that from you rental income... if you net a loss at the end
of the year, you would add the loss to you cost base... you cannot deuct
that from your own income, unless you make less than 100K.

That is true. If your AGI >= $100K, your passive net loss (capped at $25K)
starts to phase out. It decreases by $0.50 for every dollar over $100,000
till your AGI reaches $150K.
If you are real estate professional, this rule does not apply any
more.
