You might go "double" agent if you have enough knowledge on the real estate transaction and local market. Short sale normally wilk take months to get approved. In general price is lower than market.
if you like the property, go for it. what you need to know are: 1.how many liens and lien holders does the property has and who are they? 2.who is the listing agent? Has he/she closed any short sale listings before? 3.whether there's a 3rd party incolved for the neigotiation, if so how much they charge and who is going to pay for the cost? 4.are the sellers still living there or has it been rented out? and you will need a good realtor working for you. better not go with the lisitng agent since he/she will not get paid twice by representing you, the bank will not give him/her that and if the listing agent is experienced, he/ she will not be your agent which will work more with same pay. any commission for a short sale and whether realtors get paid or not has to be determined by the lien holder(s) no matter what the seller has put into the listing contract. good luck.
