Langmuir Blodgett (LB) films of nonamphiphilic decacyclene were prepd. by
mixing with stearic acid. Surface pressure vs. area per mol. isotherms (π
- A) at different compns. are measured. A comparison of spectroscopic
properties with respect to that in soln. and in cast film prepd. by spin
coating technique was made. Surface morphol. of LB films were examd. by SEM
. Studies on isotherms, absorption, emission and SEM suggest the formation
of aggregates. In LB film, in addn. to the monomeric band another broad
excimeric band with maxima at ∼592 nm appears, which probably is
aggregation induced.
