depends on field and journal. do you have a sense of their average turnaround time? i normally wait for 4 or 6 months depending on the journal. usually it shouldn't affect the outcome.

that's usually not a factor. sometimes the delay is caused by a particular reviewer (just not doing his/her job). sometimes there is a conflict between two reviewers and the editor needs to find a third one, which causes a lot of delay.
