terminologies are in french, such as ecart, promenade, sur place... however,
these are just dance terminologies. classical ballet's terminology is all in
french, because the dance originated in the french royal courtyard. ever since
then, the ballet's jargon has become the standard for dancing (since ballet is
the first form of trained western dance). modern (not as in standard) and jazz
dances
